Preparing Towards a 2020 IoT Future

IoT Growth Hurdles Raised by Security, Software Interoperability amongst others

Our friends at NJIT, aka New Jersey Institute of Technology, put together the following infographic on what the beginning of the next decade will look like for IoT. As the infographic state, 1.9 billion devices are connected today. But, in a recent Entrepreneur article "what could be limiting IoT growth will be Security and Software Interoperability." As pointed in the infographic below, Security, Lack of Interoperatbility, Massive Data, Wireless Connectivity Costs, and Power Consumption are some of the hurdles that need to be solved in the coming decade. However, there will still be use cases driving IoT. For example, current use cases amongst municipalities will be through utilities and traffic. CIO of San Francisco, Mario GamiƱo predicted that "Edge Computing", putting algorithms into local devices, could drive IoT in cities in the area of transportation. The McKinsey Global Institute released a report estimate that the big three market revenue drivers of the 2025 11 Trillion dollar IoT pie will be Factories, Cities and Humans. Very exciting times indeed. Check out the New Jersey Institute of Technologies IoT inforgraphic.

The future of the Internet of Things (IoT) is rapidly evolving, and businesses, industries, and individuals must prepare for this transformation. To prepare for an IoT-driven future in both the 2020s and beyond, businesses should embrace connectivity and edge computing, invest in IoT cybersecurity solutions, adopt data-driven decision making tools, invest in smart infrastructure, focus on sustainability through IoT, drive Industry 4.0, integrate IoT-enabled machinery into business processes, and offer IoT-ready products or services for consumers. Sustainability through IoT is crucial for managing resources better, such as energy management, waste reduction, water conservation, and eco-friendly transportation systems. Implementing sustainable IoT solutions like smart energy meters, green buildings, and automated waste management systems can reduce carbon footprints and optimize resource usage.juvenile reckless driving virginia Law is a system of rules, enforced by a state or society, that regulates behavior, often with punishments for violations.
