NASA Rates the Realism of Star Wars, Star Trek and Alien Planets Photo Courtesy of Conde Nast Entertainment Why is NASA rating Star War planets? Because they are N-A-S-A.  At NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, visualization specialist Robert Hurt breaks down the plausibility of sci-fi planets and galaxies in  Star Wars ,  Star Trek  and  Alien . Mr. Hurt's job at JPL gives him   an incredible opportunity to render some of the most amazing astronomical datasets into images everyone can enjoy.  Robert  says "When you see classic planets in Sci-Fi, one of the planets that stand out is Hoth, the icy world from the the Empire Strikes back."

Star Wars TIE Starfighter Gets Smashed by Asteroids - LEGO Style

WIRED uses Lego to re-create the iconic scenes and structures from the original “Star Wars” trilogy, and then smash them into tiny pieces You nerds like seeing things blown up, right? In  Star Wars Episode III , the TIE starfighter suffered a devastating blow from asteroid impact.  In the latest episode of WIRED’s “Star Wars Lego Destruction” digital video series,  a slo-mo Lego replica of the crushing scene has been made.
