Stay tuned." - John Nack

‘It will be a design war in the corporate world’

Image
Read More: www.koreaherald.com ( share this clip ) "Q: A design war is raging in the corporate world. As seen in Apple, design superiority seems to equal product superiority. How do you predict the future global trend of industrial design? A: I love this question and the idea of a design war. What frustrates me though is the fact that many companies honestly are in a war for business market share, but don’t realize that design is the only really brand differentiator today! Sony, Samsung, LG, Panasonic, Toshiba, etc. are all lost when it comes to finding their own vernacular, their own brand identity. They have no idea how to differentiate themselves as Apple did. Also since all these hi-tech objects are dematerializing, and most of the internal components are ubiquitous and the same it is even more important to use design to create and take ownership of a brand. Also it is only recently that design has started thinking about all the sense, not only a visceral experience. Bec

Build Keynote Audio And Microsofts Hail Mary Pass #bldwin

Image
Download MP3 In a very long keynote (with good reason) this morning Steven Sinofsky, president of Windows and Windows Live Divisions at Microsoft unveiled the much anticipated Windows 8 a MAJOR overhaul of the Windows operating system. There was a slew of features in this presentation, of note was the new metro like interface to be available across devices of all kinds. If your a web developer much like myself you should be optimistic, thanks to the new Microsoft API, html5, Javascript and CSS will be equal to C or C# in that it will create native Windows 8 apps. This brings up the question, what sense does it make to become a Silverlight / XAML developer? Sure they showed a demo app built via Silverlight but why would you? Windows 8 is hardware accelerated much like IE9 in fact IE10 was previewed on a tablet with a no chrome look. Sinofsky took an opportunity here to take a dig at the Google Chrome browser,
