Unboxing the XPrintServer, Print From iPhone or iPad

Image
The Lantronix XPrintServer home edition pretty much delivered right out of the box. We first tried just adding it to our lan since we already had a working print server in the form of the airport express. Unfortunately we were initially unable to get any of the ios devices to find the printer. So we went with the other approach of connecting the printer to the XPrintServer usb port, doing so made it worked like a dream. One thing you should remember is that you may need to delete your existing printer on osx then add the same printer with the XPrintServer name as the indicator.

Apples secret weapon is the iPad 1 not the iPad 2

Image
All the media is abuzz over the iPad 2 release today, both Apple lovers and haters are justifying or dismissing it's impact in the tech world. Among all this chatter a majority of the media seem be missing a huge point, only focusing on iPad 2 sales, the competition should be very and I mean very worried about iPad 1 sales, yes I said iPad 1 sales. You are now going to see a slew of iPad 1's on Craigslist and eBay and this is gold for Apple and more importantly to them iOS. Let's think about this for a second, consumers will see the base $499 iPad 2 price and many of them will turn and look at the secondary market and will find iPad 1's for even less. The iPad 1 is a proven device and for those who don't really need cameras in it, suddenly the iPad 1 becomes a very compelling and "affordable" choice.

What the pundits are missing about the Apple iPad

Image
I must admit that Apple did not do the best job presenting the iPad, Steve should have skipped the initial feature overview, all this accomplished was sucking the air out of whatever momentum or surprise he may have had. The presentation format was a critical mistake as it took the wow factor completely out of how and why this great device was created, all of which would have been discovered during the detailed couch demo. That being said I'm noticing quite a bit of negative sentiment among the online masses and tech influencers. This post was really prompted by what I see as the critical question my friend @jseleven asked, he mentioned he has a laptop and an iPhone and wondered who this device was for? The short answer (but HUGE fact not to be missed) is that the Amazon Kindle was the MOST sold item on Amazon during the Christmas season. This fact can and should not be missed, ok now imagine a Kindle next to an iPad and there is the answer, EREADER. The ereader market is a GROWTH ...
