RentHop Provides Heat Map of the Most Popular Places to Shoot a Film Infographic provided by RentHop Using data provided by San Francisco’s   open data portal  RentHop geocoded and mapped out where the most popular San Francisco neighborhoods and locations for filming are. The data goes back all the way to 1915 (coincidently the year of the Panama Pacific International Exposition) , covering over 100 years of filming.  There were over 200 movies and TV shows filmed in San Francisco that have been documented, with nearly 1,200 set locations.  Film in SF has a long history as provided by FILM SF here . Unfortunately, the first part of this century was a dark moment in the SF Film Industry citing bureaucracy and hight fees: Impact of San Francisco’s declining film industry during the six-year period of 2001-2006 1,936:  Jobs lost $123 million:  Local spending lost $8.4 million:  Tax dollars lost 2005:  Last year...

We are so excited. The Nerd Stalker Media crew is at the famous Game Developers Conference® (GDC) at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. If you haven't heard, the Game Developers Conference® (GDC) is the world's largest professionals-only game industry event. and is also the longest-running event of its kind. The 2015 edition of the GDC started March 2 and will end March 6 with plenty of parties in between.  Today, the GDC opens up the exhibitors area. Tickets are still available but you have to come to the Moscone Center North during these times: Registration Hours: Wednesday, March 4 8:00 am – 6:00 pm Thursday, March 5 8:30 am – 6:00 pm Friday, March 6 8:30 am - 3:00 pm The exposition hours are today from 10a - 6p, Thursday 10a - 6p and Friday 10a-3p. Google Inc. has made a one-time, in-kind donation to the nonprofit Mission Economic Development Agency (MEDA). Google will be donating 110 Nexus 5 devices and 350 Nexus 7 devices to support the organization’s goals regarding digital-literacy initiatives. MEDA provides asset building to financially challenged Latinos in San Francisco’s Mission District, with a major component of its service-integration model being computer skills. MEDA is also the lead agency of the Mission Promise Neighborhood (MPN), a citywide community partnership that has been created in support of students and families living, working and going to school in the Mission District. MPN brings together schools, colleges, community organizations, businesses and community leaders to help kids graduate and families achieve financial stability. The group MEDA has been guiding on the path to an IT career now had that path extended to the tech hub of Silicon Valley. While it is a mere thirty-mile bus ride from the underserved communities of San Francisco’s southeastern quadrant to the leafy, suburban streets of Menlo Park, Yaritza was aware that a new place awaited. If you are into gaming, Casual Connect is the  place to learn more about the gaming industry which entertains over a billion people each month.  Casual Connect just opened their three day conference today in San Francisco at the Hilton Union Square Hotel. The event has all the typical things you want - Lectures, Industry Leader speeches and vendor booths. A lot of people consider this a very influential event next to Game Developer's Conference.  Google Android seems to be gaining traction with game developers and they want to do it through  Google TV  as announced at Google I/O .  One of the opening speakers of the event, Bob Meese of Google Games and Development, said that "3 of 4 Android users play games."  In fact, if you want a free Android TV Development kit click here . There are a lot of tech workspaces here in this town. Some cool, some small, some drop dead gorgeous but this one is all three. myWebRoom's fresh layout at 875 Sansome St. in San Francisco is Tech x Designer Showcase. They showed off their space this week decked out in artwork from SFMOMA, SF Design Center and Zazzle. Their workspace represents how the "Real world and virtual world connects" says co-founder Artem Fedyaev. Sukhjit has extensive traditional and new media experience and has a new vlog called Sukhjit.me , a contributer to the Android mobile application Cooking Capsules, and works with PeopleBrowsr. For any of you social media vets or newbs, you could learn a thing or two from Sukhjit she seems to create or enhance community with each footstep, and it's quite inspirational.

For a mere $399 they send you a kit with a tube to spit in then send back. In about 4 weeks you get a ton of in depth genetic information. You will learn health traits/issues you may be prone to, get ancestral information, compare your results with the community, and you can submit your information for research if you choose. Privacy is the huge issue just see the in depth privacy policy they have to protect it's customers. Of note 23andMe was featured on Oprah and had the distinct huge honor of being named invention of the year by TIME magazine.
