The Trident Cyclops Series case for maximum iPhone protection - Review #tridentcase

Image
Nerd Stalker received a unique and very rugged iPhone case from the Trident company. The Cyclops series iPhone case is military tested and provides ridiculously tough protection. We appreciate the eco-friendly packaging for the Trident. The case comes in multiple colors, we received the black case from the Cyclops series. It comes in two pieces one that holds the phone itself and the other that basically covers the screen and snaps into the base part of the case. We tested by dropping our iPhone5 4 feet onto cement in the case and phone held up fine. Once your phone is in the case it is really really in the case, in fact we had a bit of a challenge getting it out of the case. Another issue we had was that we access the headphone and mute switch and port regularly and the Cyclops flaps kept getting in our way. Now to be fair this is intentional and this issue would only arise for people who are constantly accessing this particular items on a very frequent basis. That being said the...

Unboxing the XPrintServer, Print From iPhone or iPad

Image
The Lantronix XPrintServer home edition pretty much delivered right out of the box. We first tried just adding it to our lan since we already had a working print server in the form of the airport express. Unfortunately we were initially unable to get any of the ios devices to find the printer. So we went with the other approach of connecting the printer to the XPrintServer usb port, doing so made it worked like a dream. One thing you should remember is that you may need to delete your existing printer on osx then add the same printer with the XPrintServer name as the indicator.

Nerd Stalker iPhone App Review: KAYAC's MusicParty

Image
Japanese mobiles apps are interesting. We found this iPhone app to be a very fresh departure from the others. MusicParty is a unique iPhone app which allows a user to share their iTunes mobile music with up to four of their friends. This iPhone app uses wireless or bluetooth to share music. To use this app, the user will create a “Party” and phones that have that app loaded and active can see the “Party” and request music to be played on the user’s iPhone. The user who created the “Party” can select which music will be played on their phone. We tried this app with bluetooth sharing of five iPhones and it does work. Any local song on the users iPhone can be shared with the "Party" creator's iPhone as long as that app is active and the others join the "Party." Bluetooth is limited to around 15-20ft in our test. So, being in a car, small room, bluetooth will work. In our test of wireless, it can be much further. At a big event, this will be helpful. We als...

Did You Know You Can Share Multiple iPhone/Android Pictures Easily?

Image
We are not sure what the app's name means but KAYAC's Photobag is an app that allows you to share unlimited pictures from your mobile device with your friends. There is no site registration required and all you need is a secret access code to share unlimited pictures with your friends. The catch is that they are only available free for a limited time. After that time, one will need to “feed” their honey bear with some money to access the pictures. We tested this app and it is very simple which is what Nerd Stalkers like. The navigation bar has four settings Download , Upload , History and Settings . Download is for access to your friends pictures via a Photobag "magic" code. Upload is to share the photos with your friends and family. History allows you to look at Pics you have uploaded or download and allows you to invite friends to the service and Settings allow you to invite friends and see how many hour credits you have. You get more free hours of sharing time...

Kevin Rose is SQUARE? Nerd Stalker #67

Interview with Beth Halel of the red hot startup Square at MacWorld 2010. Start accepting payment cards immediately with Square. No contracts, monthly fees, or hidden costs. Effortlessly manage all the money you take with an easy and intuitive interface. In February 2009, Jim McKelvey wasn’t able to sell a piece of his glass art because he couldn’t accept a credit card as payment. Even though a majority of payments has moved to plastic cards, accepting payments from cards is still difficult, requiring long applications, expensive hardware, and an overly complex experience. Square was born a few days later right next to the old San Francisco US Mint. Today the Square team is focused on bringing immediacy, transparency, and approachability to the world of payments: an inherently social interaction each of us participates in daily. We’re starting with a limited beta and rolling out to everyone in early 2010. Square is backed by Khosla Ventures and a team of angels. Square, Inc. has of...
