TODAY: California Film Institute Presents DOCTALK FROM HOME

JOIN THE CALIFORNIA FILM INSTITUTE AND VARIETY TOMORROW FOR  DOCTALK FROM HOME   Today, May 3 at 4:00 PM PDT // 7:00PM EDT, the Variety Streaming Room, Variety’s new initiative for virtual conversations and events, will host a selection of filmmakers, from the recently postponed DocLands Documentary Film Festival (DocLands), in conversation with Variety’s Sr. Features Writer, Andrew Barker.  Conversations will showcase trailers or clips from each film followed by a live, interactive Q&A with the eight directors. During the extraordinary circumstances we’re currently experiencing, we hope this 90-minute event will help showcase films that haven’t yet had public screenings or exposure beyond Sundance this year, and will prompt engaging conversations, as well as an exciting exchange of ideas between the filmmakers, moderator Barker, and the streaming audience. In this film, produced by Carrie Burge of The Guardian , Aleks Krotoski travels the world to undergo challenges that explore our digital life in the 21st century. Watch her be stalked and hacked, fight to get leaked documents back, dive into open data and live in a futuristic home that monitors her every move. This film won  is the winner of British Animation Awards 2016: Best Film/TV Graphics  Here is the j ury citation: 'For its distinctive graphic design and intelligent fusion of content and style, precision in conveying information, charm and visual wit.' Thanks to producer Carrie Budge  and The Guardian for showing us nerds how privacy is our choice.
