SF New Tech Announces the 2016 Crawl Though SF Techtopia Our Nerd Stalker with Myles (photo courtesy of ABC 7 News) Last week, our beloved SF New Tech announced that this year's SF New Tech Crawl will be on November 4. What's the SF New Tech crawl?  This annual tech love fest allows many of us to see the insides some of SF's tech companies by hopping from company to company to see what each company persona is all about. Many use this for recruiting, job seeking or just inspiration. This year, The SF New Tech Crawl features GoPro, Imgur, Zendesk and others. If you want to participate, sponsor or even volunteer,   Click here . This year, the crawl will be starting in Fi-Di (Financial District) and end at WeWork Transbay. Featured on

Solving a Social Problem the Tech Event Way

We interview Greg Gopman about his upcoming event - Town Hall to End Homelessness . On Nerd Stalker, we normally interview Tech/Startup entrepreneurs and their products. He was going great guns, as most talented, bold entrepreneurs do, until the bottom fell out. Greg posted an insensitive post about the homeless in San Francisco on Facebook and the social media fire storm began. A common thing happening in the today's world where there are no bushes or screens to hide behind in the social world. You can find out more about his story and little background on the SF Homeless problem as told by Kim-mai Cutler on Tech Crunch .  Greg is organizing a "Town Hall" but in the tech way. Google giving back to SF's Mission Neighborhood

Google Inc. has made a one-time, in-kind donation to the nonprofit Mission Economic Development Agency (MEDA). Google will be donating 110 Nexus 5 devices and 350 Nexus 7 devices to support the organization’s goals regarding digital-literacy initiatives. MEDA provides asset building to financially challenged Latinos in San Francisco’s Mission District, with a major component of its service-integration model being computer skills. MEDA is also the lead agency of the Mission Promise Neighborhood (MPN), a citywide community partnership that has been created in support of students and families living, working and going to school in the Mission District. MPN brings together schools, colleges, community organizations, businesses and community leaders to help kids graduate and families achieve financial stability. The donated devices will have programmatic uses in the tech labs at MEDA, where digital-literacy classes are taught based on varying skill levels. Richard Abisla, MEDA...
