Today, at the Global Entrepreneurship Summit  (GES), 1776 and Dell in partnership with Microsoft and Capital Factory have announced a new platform for startups called "Union." Microsoft to buy LinkedIn for $26.2B in cash, makes big move into enterprise social media Huge news today in the world of M&A in enterprise and social networking services: Microsoft has announced that it is acquiring LinkedIn, the social network for professionals with some 433 million users, for $26.2 billion, or $196 per share, in cash. The transaction has already been approved by both boards, but it must still get regulatory and other approvals.

When developing apps, sometimes the focus is about the app and sometimes it is about the process. With Microsoft Idea Lab, it is both. A few weeks ago, one of Microsoft's mobile apps became the first passenger to ride on the Microsoft Idea Lab called SNIPP3T (pronounced snippet) . It is a celebrity lurking app. That's all we will say about it. What's more interesting is how Microsoft's Idea Lab is helping their app developers. A few months ago, Microsoft announced Idea Lab which was created to get Microsoft developers and their users to interact more to develop products better and faster. We talk with Microsoft Idea Lab and SNIPP3T team of Lisa Abdilova, Alisher Saydalikhodjayev  and Donald Soon as they talk about how SNIPP3T is being developed through Microsoft Idea Lab.

We followed up with Lisa Abdilova , Product Marketing Manager of Microsoft and discuss Microsoft's new outreach program called 'Idea Lab'. Lisa announced the service at SF New Tech a few weeks ago and discusses how they plan to work with participants in this program. Check out her interview.

Microsoft announced a program where you can interact directly with Microsoft developers. Lisa Abdilova, product marketing manager at Microsoft, announced at SF New Tech last night a way for Microsoft product engineers/developers to "hear" and "interact" with their audience called Microsoft's Idea Lab . Lisa came up with this idea as she has been interacting at different tech meetups in the area and told us at Nerd Stalker was that "(Microsoft) is finding other avenues to connect with the tech community and bounce some ideas off of." You can even become a certified Product Expert and earn gift cards. Check out her announcement at SF New Tech last night.
