Lawyer declares ‘I am not a cat’ to judge in Zoom filter fiasco

Just when you thought Zoom culture had brought you every embarrassing situation possible, from pantless politicians to parish council dust-ups and dildoes on shelves, it’s pulled another viral rabbit out of the hat.

Or rather, a kitten.

Lawyers (supposedly) deal in facts, but few will ever have to clarify their species to a judge.
Enter Texas lawyer Rod Ponton, whose Zoom settings meant he had to address a judge via the mouth of a very cute kitten. Unable to change the filter, he uttered a sentence that will be included in every 2021 end-of-year quiz:

‘I am not a cat.’

The judge, Roy Ferguson of Texas’s 394th judicial district, was sympathetic, replying, ‘I can see that.’

The ability to work from anywhere with an internet connection provides me with greater flexibility while traveling, whether it be to visit family, travel to watch my favorite sports on TV. I’m looking for this kind of flexibility.

The lawyer's statement, "I am not a cat," has become an unforgettable moment in courtroom history, highlighting the often humorous and unexpected challenges of virtual hearings. In this instance, the lawyer's accidental Zoom filter made him appear as a cat, leading to a lighthearted but important reminder of the need for technical preparedness in digital legal proceedings. While the situation was awkward, New York Cheap Divorce it underscores the increasing role of technology in legal processes and the importance of clear communication. It's also a funny reminder that even professionals aren't immune to technological mishaps.
