Photo Courtesy of University of Southern California The Nerd Stalkers received news that researchers from the University of Southern California(USC)  studying how big the Internet is have found that it “sleeps,” almost like a living creature. The finding will help scientists and policymakers develop better systems to measure and track Internet outages, such as those that struck the New York area after Hurricane Sandy and other disasters.  Understanding how the Internet sleeps will help them avoid confusing a sleeping Internet with an Internet outage. In our first year covering Dreamforce 2014, we stumbled upon a unique cloud service solution. At the NTT Group booth, we stalked an interesting IoT application - Intelligent toilets. Toto has conceptualized the intelligent toilet for years and now has partnered with NTT PC Communications to develop a pure secure cloud solution integrated with the Salesforce's service cloud. Egested gas is detected by a gas sensor and its data is sent to a middle-ware/IoT secured network called IP-WARP. This middle-ware in the secure IoT network can take the data, analyze the data and encrypts the data which can then be accessed by the user or by a cloud solution like Salesforce.

In light of the social news network Reddit's announcement that it is  planning its own cryptocurrency , a very big deal for its 115 million unique users per month, we talk with Eric Yaverbaum of town hall network Saving America which launched in September and is already featuring the use of cryptocurrency for its users. In many ways, the concepts are similar, except that Saving America already users already receive digital currency for their site interactions.
